Hi,

As a basis consultant we need to create only the file systems and mount it on the server. Connection of storage to individual servers is the job of Hardware Vendor. They have necessary skill sets.

May be you can look for relevant document on the HP site since your storage is from HP.

Hope this is useful.

Hello Satyanarayna,

You talk to your hardware engineer and network engineer regarding this.

You mention the filesystems necessary for SAP installations along with memory required to your network/hardware team.

for eg.---its for DB2

sapmnt/<SID> 10GB

/db2/<SID> 10GB

/db2/<SID>/log_dir 10GB

/db2/<SID>/acs 10GB

/db2/<SID>/log_archive 10GB

/db2/<SID>/log_retrieve 10GB

/db2/<SID>/db2dump 10GB

/db2/db2<SID> 10GB

/sapdump 40GB

/usr/sap/<SID> 10GB

/db2/<SID>/db2event 10GB

/db2/<SID>/sqllib 10GB

/db2/<SID>/sapdata1 80GB

/db2/<SID>/sapdata2 80GB

/db2/<SID>/sapdata3 80GB

/db2/SD1/sapdata4 80GB

/usr/sap/trans 40GB

/db2/SD1/db2<SID> 10GB

/backup 80GB

___________________________________________________________

They will create these filesystems in SAN and mount it to your system, later you can proceed with installation.

Dear Amit Barnawal

Thanks For your very helpfull answer

but still i have some doubt

where i should create filesystem for

/

/boot

/swap

/dev

these filesytems should be created at standalone server at the time of os installation

you have provided me the filesystems with size for one server, shall in give the same size with different <SID> to other servers and submit to the network/hardware team to create these filesystems for other servers in SAN

Dear Satyanarayna,

file systems like

/boot

/dev

/swap should be in standalone server, as standalone server have that much space.

We have created the filesystems mentioned above in our SAN, rest was in standalone server only.

For different servers(dev,qa,prod) you will mention file systems respectively to your network/hardware team with memory you need accordingly.

As sapdata filesystem can be more in number in production & quality systems due to large amount of data.

Hope it helps.

Dear Satyanarayna,

Filesystem will be same in JAVA stack as well.

Just you have to change SID.

Proceed with installations with same filesystem for EP JAVA, while installing you will get option to sleect EP components in JAVA stack, selct that and proceed.

All the best

Hello Satyanarayana,

You don't need to worry about SAN when you are given with enough hardware resources and necessary file systems created for SAP installation. Please go through the installation guide for better understanding of Basis role in SAP installation project.
