An availability check is not always required for a delivery. It depends on your business process.

Take the following example:

A Sales Order is created. In the Sales Order, an availability check is executed according to checking rule A (Checking Rule A is the default for Sales Orders). For Checking Rule A, you may have included production orders. The system can find an available quantity based on the production orders.

The Sales Order is delivered. As time of delivery creation, an availability check is executed according to checking rule B(Checking Rule B is the default for deliveries). At delivery creation, you may not want the system to include production orders as available receipts; it may be your expectation that the production orders have been receipted into stock by the time the sales order is being delivered.

The above example illustrates how the availability check is more accurate at sales order level by including production orders, but is then restricted at delivery by looking for the actual stock at delivery creation.

Of course, every business differs, and there is a possibility that an availability check is not required at delivery level. If this is the case in your business, you can turn off availability check at delivery by going to transaction 0VLp for the relevant item category.

Hope this helps.

Generally AC = Stock in hand + planned inward + planned outward

1. Planned future movements is always subject to change. Because of so many real world factors and it would affect in stock situation in delivering plant.

2. A stock situation that existed during the sales order confirmation may not exist anymore during delivery.

3. The stock situation in the delivering plant or warehouse will change between the order confirmation and delivery time.

So, therefore AC us mist at delivery level.
