MDO related question

Hi,

We have a SQL database that holds historical data (about 40000 - 50000 rows of data). We plan on migrating all this data into the MII-MDO Database. And, going forward, we plan on using this MDO databsae for storing data. Is this recommended? If so, whats the easiest way of doing it?

Regards,

Chanti.

Hi Chanti,

I would suggest not to use MDO for this pupose. Basically MDO are used for caching data and also it does not support relational data. Besides MDO has some issues and with the SP03 the MDO database will be shifted to Netviewer DB.

Hi Chanti,

MDO is not a database. It is a series of data objects maintained automatically in MII (think along the lines of cached data). Scheduled refreshes can maintain that data locally and reasonably up to date and allow better performance. However, there are limitations to how you treat the data from an MDO. I would suggest reading up a bit further on what MDO's are and more important, the limitations on what they can do.
