Hi,

I am having an error with MSSQL2005 on Windows 2003 Server when I am in Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and click on botton New Query it automatically exit without any error warning.

Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio 9.00.3042.00

Microsoft Analysis Services Client Tools 2005.090.3042.00

Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2000.086.3959.00 (srv03_sp2_rtm.070216-1710)

Microsoft MSXML 2.6 3.0 4.0 6.0

Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0.5730.13

Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0.50727.832

Operating System 5.2.3790

I don't know what service pack is installed even looking in ERROLOG it shows Microsoft SQL Server 2005 - 9.00.3050.00 (Intel IA-64)

If I login several times New Query works fine in one of those sessions.

Any clue?

Regards.

Your server runs on Windows Itanium (IA64). Since SQL Server Management Studio is a 32bit application which is only "emulated" on Itanium to run, you should install SQL Sever Management Studio on another PC and use that one instead of using it on the server directly. See

1596753 - Could not load file or assembly when using the SQL Server Management Studio

Check

Note 985137 - Service Pack Installation for SQL Server 2005

for valid service packs and how to update the system.

Hi Markus,

Thank you very much for the support.

Why DEV and QAS are working fine? The note explains everything and MSSQL under IA64 platform is not consistent.

Do you have the exactly the same components and also the same security patches installed?
