system and sys users belongs to oracle .you can change password through SQL promt only.

No need use BRTOOLS.For SAP users(schemas) use BRTOOLS.

Hi

Is this the right way to change ths sys and systems passwords , throught oracle directly ?

All of the readings regarding changing Oracle passwords state that they should be done in Brtools because it updates certain SAP tables with the new password information while doing it diterctly under SQLPLUS will only update Oracle

For SYS, system, we do it via oracle sqlplus and then use that system password to reset other SAP/DB user's passwords via brtools/brconnect - For e.g. -

brconnect -u system/<syst_pwd> -f chpass -o SAPR3 -p <new_sap_pwd>

Thanks

Try to refer another discussion thread, why SYS, system users are not mandatorily be reset by brconnect/brtools...however these can be reset, via brtools

Thanks

Hi Rayyan,

All of the readings regarding changing Oracle passwords state that they should be done in Brtools because it updates certain SAP tables with the new password information while doing it diterctly under SQLPLUS will only update Oracle

All the SAP tables are owned by schema user and not system or SYS users. Both these users are used only by Oracle processes. Hence it has to be changed by SQL command.

Hope this is useful.

Hi,

You cannot change password for System and SYS using brtools. You need to use SQL statement to change the password.

SQL> Alter user system identified by <newpasswd>;

Hope this is useful.
