Maxdb autolog sizes are increased so fastly because we made it autlogs are ON.

What i would like to do that , Take a full database backup and log backup then I would like to delete the autolog files and logfiles.

Anyway i have full DB backup , inorder to save space i will remove the autolog files . Can i go forward ?

Thanks

Only full DB backup will not be consistent backup. You may need logs to make this set of backup a consistent one.

There is a possibility of data loss between 2 backups (in case server crashes between 2 backup intervals).

For Production environment Autolog ON option is recommended.

What you can do it take the log backup on tape and later delete it from disk to save disk space.

Hope this is useful.

Thanks for your reply,

What i mean to say is that, I will take latest FULL DB backup and log backup and I will remove the autolog files which occupies lot of space and also i will make autologs are in ON state.

Thanks

Hello Srikanth,

it's not good backup/recovery strategy for the production system!

We recommend to archive the logbackup to tapes, for example, and keep for 4 successful databackups.

For example, if the database corruption occurred or you had to perfirm point-in-time recovery to get back deleted data,

you will need those logbackups.
