Upgrade BW 3.5 to 7.3 with BPS (Planning)

Hello,

we have a BW 3.5 environment with an BPS (Business Planning and Simulation) application running and plan to upgrade to BW 7.3.

Does anyone know, if this componment will run after the upgrade without big effort? We still want to use the "old" planning module (with planning sheets, functions, etc.) without upgrading to BW-IP (integrated planning).

I've read a lot of blog posts and articles and found, that most 3.5 Queries and 3.5 Webtemplates should run under 7.3 without the need to upgrade them. And that the only thing that has to be upgraded is the authorization concept.

But what about the BPS?

Hi Mathias,

If the source is a just an ECC system ie. not XI or Portal or SLD then

the SPSs are independent and there should be no compatability

issues whatsoever with just upgrading the BI system.

Interconnectivity is provided via PI_BASIS in abap which can

exist with lower SP levels on the ECC side.

Hi Naveen,

thanks for your quick response.

The answer is a bit too technical for me, as I'm not a basis admin.

We are using BW-BPS in our 3.5 system (not SEM-BPS) and heard from another company that this is running as is under BW7.0 without any migration effort.

Will this be the same on 7.3?

And what about the other 3.5 content (queries, webtemplates, etc.) will they work under 7.3 or do we need to migrate each item before we can use it.

Can you please share your experience while upgrading Authorizations from 3.5 to 7.3

Is the migrations involves too much manual efforts?

It would be great if you can share some steps of migration of Auths or issue handling process for the same.

Also we are in the same situation. We are upgrading BW 3.5 to BI 7.3 with BW-BPS(without SEM). Can you please your experiences, we need your help.

Does BW-BPS run on BI 7.3?

And also can we upgrade directly to BI 7.3 (without two steps BW 3.5 -> BI 7.0 -> BI 7.3)?
