We're implementing DMS and want to use the ECL viewer for all file types, including PDFs that we are setting up to be our standard neutral format for drawings. Installed the ECL Viewer (version 6, patch level 7, SAPgui 720) and it works fine for TIFFs, etc. But when attempting to view a PDF an error window opens with the text:
Teamcenter Visualization (R) Convert 2005 SR1 MP3 (070305) for Windows
Copyright 2005 UGS Corp
prepare - Error: License checking has failed, please contact customer support for assistance.
The ECL viewer then says it cant open the file. It appears the Teamcenter Visulaization is a converter that's part of the SAP front end, but is failing. I can't find anything anywhere on Service Marketplace regarding this.
Also - I'm seeing conflicting posts regarding the ability to use ECL viewer to do redlining on PDFs. What's the story, we need to be able to do this.
Any help would be appreciated.

Not sure what the issue was, but we installed the standalone ECL Viewer version 7.0, with the latest patches (3), and the issue was resolved. Also able to do redlining on PDFs.

Hi,
Teamcenter Visualization (R) Convert 2005 SR1 MP3 (070305) for Windows
Copyright 2005 UGS Corp

Above error is pertaining to non-SAP s/w Teamcenter Visualization. Teamcenter is an integrated suite of Product Lifecycle Management applications originally created by EDS PLM Solutions, a company which ultimately became Siemens PLM Software.
Teamcenter Visualization) gives the ability to view CAD data in a CAD neutral format
Please check whether you have proper license for Teamcenter installed on your desktop.
Hope this is useful.
