Hello,
looking at the first diagram at http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/53/97583c2439e66fe10000000a114084/content.htm, I would assume that there is no option to use (any kind of ) SAP GUI to connect to a WebAS Java instance.
SAP GUI is only to be used for WebAS ABAP.
The "for Java" in the name "SAP GUI for Java" is referring to the technology platform used in the client implementation (like "for Windows"), not to the flavor of the SAP stack.

Hello Ganesh,
is there any error message? Please also look on the console.
[SAP note 1617725|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1617725] comes with a few tips for trouble shooting.
As a fallback, you can create a trace file [SAP note 683960|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/683960] and attach it to a [support message|https://service.sap.com/message] on application area BC-FES-JAV.
Best regards

HI!
Actually, I have planning to install BW 3.5 for testing purpose.
we have existing ECC 5.0 (ABAP) setup and now we want to implement BW.
so for testing purpose I have installed the SAP java instance on separate server
and for configuration purpose I want to log on SAP Java instance system,
Please correct, if I am wrong.
thanks
Hello Ganesh,
Only SAPGUI for Windows can be used with BW components.
[454939|http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/454939] SAP GUI for Java limitations
there is no BEx available for the SAPgui for Java, since it depends
on Windows control files and Excel which is a Windows product.
BEx is a Windows-Only application, it uses VBA (Signed Macros) and some
native OCX'es to connect to SAP and maintain data.
Additionally the "new" BEx (7.00) is based on the .NET framework and
uses components, that are not available on Linux (Adobe SVG and more).
However, BI 7.0 has a "BExWeb" but I haven't tried using it on
Linux/Firefox (or Mozilla) and I don't know if it uses ActivX elements
but then again, with the necessary Portal installation you will need IE
though because Portal Administration will not work with Firefox (at
least it's not officially supported in case of problems).
