Optimal number of "ACTIVE" Datafiles -

Hello,

Current situation :

Datafile SIZE Next G File Name File Size Limit

PMPDATA1 344,000 0 M:\PMPDATA\PMPDATA1.mdf 343001

PMPDATA2 265,000 0 M:\PMPDATA\PMPDATA2.ndf 265001

PMPDATA3 266,000 0 M:\PMPDATA\PMPDATA3.ndf 266001

PMPDATA4 285,000 2,000 M:\PMPDATA\PMPDATA4.mdf no limit

PMPDATA5 285,000 2,000 M:\PMPDATA\PMPDATA5.mdf no limit

PMPDATA6 285,000 2,000 M:\PMPDATA\PMPDATA6.mdf no limit

We used to have 3 datafiles. When the disk that they were on was full

(I stopped their growing) AND

created 3 more files on a different disk.

Then we put all 6 files on NEW disk But left the first 3 files with

File Size Limit.

NOW , That all 6 files are almost the same size I want to make ALL 6

files grow with NO limit.

QUESTION:

What is the correct practice between : (Assuming they ALL stay on same

Drive)

- Allow All 6 files to grow (Reomve the file Size limit on first 3

files) OR

- Leave the current situation (Only 3 files continue to grow)

I would go for utilizing all 6 files equally allowing them to grow with no limit.
