Hi,

Sales Order Creation date is the date on which the order has been created.

Document date is the date from which the Sales document is active. It is the date when the order was written up by a field sales representative.

For example,The Order may come to your sales office on 11.12.2011 and the order has been generated on 12.12.2011.

In this instance Created on date is 12.12.2011 and document date is 11.12.2011.

By default the system will propose the current date in the field "Document date" and we can change it manually if the date is not same as the date created.

Regards,

Krishna.

Hi Rajiv,

If I understood it right, why there are two different fields in sales orders: creation date and document date.

Creation date - date on which SAP sales order is created. We CAN NOT edit this field as it is determined automatially by SAP system.

Document date - this date is editable. SAP has provided this field to record the date flexibly if the sales order is created through an interface (from an external system). For example if the sales order is created in an external system on 1st day of the January month, and the corresponding SAP sales order is created on 3rd day of the January month, then:

Creation date = 01.01.2011

Document date = 02.01.2011

Thanks,

Shankar

Creation Date is the date on which the Document was created in SAP system & it cannot be changed by the User. Tis date is basically the SAP System date & serves the basic purpose of recording the date on which is record (document) was created in system.

Document Date is the date from which the Document would be active. For example you create a Sales Order Today (12.12.2011), but you want the Sales Order Functions (like Pricing date) to start from 15.12.2011 then user can change the Document Date.

This is mainly helpful in creating Back Dated Sales Order in system.

Hope this clarifies,

Thanks,
