MDM Matching strategy for data type Text Large.

Dear Experts,

I have created one field Long Text of Type :Text Large and I want to run matching strategy on Long Text.

But I am not getting that field in Matching mode while creating transformation and Rules.

Plz Help.

Hi Vaibhav,

Try making it sort idexed and retry.

If that does not work out then you will have to break the Long text into multiple text fields and modify strategy as per that.

Text large data type cannt be sort indexed.We want matching strategy to run in that text large field only.I think it is a limitation from SAP MDM side.

The reference guide says:

NOTE ►► Text fields do not appear in the drop-down list of fields

unless they are sort-indexed (see the MDM Console Reference Guide

for more information).

So I assumed this might hold for Text large too but I guess its not the case.

I agree,It could be a limitation.

Hi,

Yes, Fields of type text large cannot be included in rules for matching.

This is maybe because it is assumed that such large fields will never have any matches and even if they do it would take significant time for matching large data in these fields.

We could use normal text fields with max width of 333 if we are sure that data is never going to exceed that limit.
