Hi Sathish,

why you want to delete lock entries manually, Enque mechanism will take care of clearing lock entries once the work processes requests get completed. we have to delete long runing lock entries if you find any performance issues in system.

that tooo you have to check corresponding Update entries in SM13 before deleting lock entries.

in your case i dont think so you are doing correct thing.

Hello Sathish,

As soon as the corresponding transaction or process is finished, the lock entry will be released automatically. No user intervention is required in this case.

If you have to delete it manually from SM12 transaction, please make sure no process and update record running with that user before you clear it. If you deleted the lock entry when process is active, then it will lead to data loss and inconsistencies in the system.

Hope your query is answered.

Thanks,

Hi Satish,

When a user completes his transcation, SM12 lock entry created by that user automatically gets released.

This a standarad SAP behaviour.

Deepak,

Thanks for your post but the problem is, the locked entries are not released by the enque mechanism. so the lock entry is not allowing the locked user after some time while he is trying to access. Please advice....

Thanks in advance

Hi,

Your only solution is to find out why the locks are not released and to correct this problem.

Never, never delete automatically lock entries : it is a recipe for disaster.

To add to Olivier's answer...

If the Locks are not been released as expected you should be monitoring the enque closely... check your developer traces for errors and or even replicate the issue while using a trace and post errors here. NEVER delete a lock without proper follow up and certainty that and update is not in progress..

Also if you had a problem with the enque locks your SM21 logs should be filled with errors.
