Display the contents of backup in tape(backup taken brtools)

Hi Experts,

I Have taken the offline backup of orcle database using brtools on tape.

how can i display the contents of backup in tape.

i.e i wnat to only read the tape.

Hello Vivek,

You cannot display the content of backup on tape. Please go through the backup log for the required information.

This is really strange, why you completely clean up the sapbackup directory ? You should keep the logs.

As of now, if no logs then 'obviously' you can't read them.

Hi Vivek,

You can restore the brbackup log files from the tape using the following options (-n)

This BRRESTORE command option enables you to restore a file directly from the volume without having to specify the name of the backup log or the log sequence number.

brrestore -n det_log => This will restore detailed backup log from tape

brrestore -n sum_log => This will restore summarised backup log from tape.

Hi Shiva,

DB12 will required the backup log file to be present in the backup directory. In Vivek's case those are not available.

Hence DB12 will be not be useful .
