Crystal Reports Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008 R2 as CMS

We are planning to upgrade our Crystal Reports Server X1R2/SQL Server 2003 CMS to Crystal Reports Server 2008 with SQL Server 2008 R2 CMS. I see in the most current supported platforms for Crystal Reports Server 2008 V1 SP3 that SQL Server 2008 is supported, but is SQL Server 2008 R2 supported as a CMS repository?

Also, is Oracle 11gR2 supported as a data source for the reports?

I hope someone can answer so that we know what we need to deploy.

Thank you.

Hi,

As per PAM,

For Crystal Reports Server 2008 V1

MSSQL 2008 is only supported as CMS and datasource.

Oracle 11g R1 is only supported as data source release

For Crystal Server 2011

MSSQL 2008 R2 and Oracle 11g r2 are supported as CMS and datasource.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for that quick reply.

Do you happen to know where I can find the documentation that says Crystal Server 2011 support SQL Server 2008 R2 as CMS and Oracle 11g R2 as data source?

And can Crystal Server 2011 run Crystal Reports 2011 that directly connects to an Oracle database? I got confused with the documents that I have found so far that says Crystal Server 2011 only uses universes for now, but will be able to support direct data access in the future.

If you could answer these, it will help in our decision to either move to Crystal Server 2011 already or not.
