Restrict Language in Portal

Hello Expert,

I performing some modification in my portal to allow users to choose their preferred language instead of English (no offense)

My portal is actually plugged to my backend system for the UME, so i have set the communication language and default language to empty, and define the parameter ume.logon.locale to TRUE in configtool.

Now when i log into my portal i can see a list of language, which is nice so far, BUT !!! there is two thing, when i select French for example, the portal doesn't show up in French when i'm in and the second thing is how reduce the list of the drop down box ?

So why it's there ? is that functionality is functional up to a certain package level ?

I've checked this one already, i'm on SP8 at this point, in the tread it says that the functionality is good up to SP11 but on the MP only the SP10 is available
