Dear All,
We have finite capacity planning configured. It works fine. However, when it comes to accommodating network activities that have long hours planned to complete, SAP looks for a spot in the work center capacity that is big enough to accommodate that activity. In many cases, this results in pushing that activity and consequently the overall project schedule towards the end of the schedule, which is possibly the only place that has so much of available capacity.
One option to solve this problem (with proper configuration to use the priority on the network when dispatching operations) would be to give this job a higher priority, so it gets all the required capacity allocated before other jobs, but after a certain point, it doesn't work. Is there a way with or without custom development, where the system could fit whatever portion of the activity it could on the schedule as and when that capacity is available until all of the work has been allocated? Can something like capacity splitting work in this case? help.sap says that capacity splitting doesn't work with Finite Capacity Planning and I am not sure if splitting can be used with PS at all.
Any insights you could provide will be highly appreciated.
