Hi,
opening '/dev/mt0': The system cannot find the file specified
Can you check whether the tape address /dev/mt0 is mapped properly to the server. Also ensure you have tape device at this location.
you can verify the same using the command
mt -f /dev/mt0 status
If this returns the block size of the tape device , it implies you have mapped the tape address properly and tape device exists in proper locaiton.
Hope this helps.

Deepak Kori

Dear Deepak Kori,
Thanks for the support.
I tried this command it shows,
C:\Documents and Settings\dv1adm>mt -f /dev/mt0 status
mt: opening '/dev/mt0': The system cannot find the file specified.
Also, please suggest us how to verify the tape address /dev/mt0 is mapped properly in the server?
Regards,
Bharathi
Hi,
The command which i mentioned above will check for correct tape address mapping as well.
Additionally you can check initSID.sap file for the tape address configured for backup and rewind process.
If the tape address seems to be correct, ensure that you have new tape in the address specified.
Hope this helps.

Deepak Kori
Dear Deepak Kori,
Thanks, I pasted the init file for your reference. Seems to be correct.
init<SID>.sap:

AIX: /dev/rmt0.1
SINIX: /dev/ios0/rstape005n
SUN: /dev/rmt/0mn
NT: /dev/nmt0
tape_address = /dev/nmt0
