During upgrade DDIC is used to communicate ABAP stack and SAP* to java stack. Please make sure SAP* user is unlocked in Java and ABAP (just to be safe).

Hi Siva,

Thanks for your help.

But now ABAP is in PHASE MAIN_NEWBAS/GETSYNC_MODPROF_STARTED and it is wating for SAP Jup event.

Now original and shadow both systems are down then how can i check ids?

please advise me to solve

Thanks,

Hello Venkat,

I guess since ABAP is your data source for Java, it could not able to get SAP* account as ABAP system is down at this moment. I would suggest you to start main instance manually, make sure SAP* is unlocked and repeat/resume the phase for Java. After ABAP got sync with JAVA, upgrade tool will stop ABAP instance again and move further.

It may work, just give a try.

Thanks,

Siva Kumar

Hi Siva,

you are right. It is trying to connect with sap* but failing.

Per your suggestion i tried to start ABAP by startsap name=<sid> nr=01 sapdiahost=<hostname>

but it is not starting and giving output as STARTSAP failed and if i tried to start java instance but below command

startsap name=<sid> nr=00 sapdiahost=<hostname> it giving out put as STARTSAP continues...

in my case 00 is Java stack and 01 is ABAP stack on original system

for shadow system i have given 03 for ABAP and 05 for JAVA

am not able to open MMC.

in this case how can i go further? my client is asking to finish it early but am not able to finish this upgrade.

please help me to go

Thanks,

Venkat

Hi

I found this text "USER_AUTH_FAILED: User account for logonid "SAP*" not found!" in your log.

create "SAP*" user manually and set master password. and try agian.

Hello Venkat,

Please go through the startup logs to know the reason why it's not coming up. Since you are running out of time, I would suggest you to open up a HIGH priority message with SAP (OSS message) for quick resolution.

Hi Siva,

i have opened OSS message but the issue got resolved before they respond.

solution is changed datasource to database in config tool and password changed in config tool and unlocked user id at database level then restartd EHPi it will autometically started JAVA system.

Hi Siva,

Thanks for your quick responce.

start java instance manually means is it shadow java instance or original?

i tried to start sap MMC but it is not opening and giving error as some dll missing.

so traied at OS level with

startsap name=<sid> nr=<original java system no> sapdiahost=<hostname>

but it is giving error as below

startsap failed check start<sid>.log

start<sid>.log:running sapstart.exe name=<SID nr=01 sapdiahost=<hostname> -wait

SAPSTART finished successfully on <hostname>_<sid>_01, but at least one process doesn't run correctly:

jcontrol.exe, J2EE Server, Stopped, 2011 12 04 19:29:52, 0:00:00

sapstart.exe=>sapparam(1c): No Profile used.

Thanks in advance,

Hello Venkat,

Since you are in downtime phase, shadow instance is no longer valid. I think it's trying to start Java main instance.

Please check upgrade and startsap logs to find out the reason why it's not coming up.

The logs point to issue with shared memory. Try cleaning up the shared memory and starting the system again.

Hello Venkat,

As far as I know server reboot is the only option to clear shared memory in windows environment.

Please try that.

Hello Venkat,

I don't see any clue from the above pasted logs. Could you please check Java engine related log files like std_server.out, dev_dispatcher and jvm_.log files for the clue?

Thanks,
