Universe Design Tool and BPC 10

Hi all,

I have quite an urgent question that I need some guidance from all you SAP gurus on!

Is it possible to connect BPC 10 to BI4 using Universe Design Tool? We are under the impression very few people have connected these pieces of software together, if at all. It is very important to a Project I am on at the moment as to whether it is possible so any advice would be very much appreciated.

So far we have done..

Software is installed - Universe Design Tool (UDT)

Logins have been created for BPC 10

Opened up UDT and go through the Wizard;

Connection name is BPC CCONNECTION

Select data access driver: Business Planning and Consolidation OLE DB for OLAP

Enter the server address for BPC 10 (This is the URL that we log in to the BPC Admin Console)

After we try to continue, we get the error as follows:

If anyone could give any kind of advice I would really apprecaite it!

Nick

Hi,

No you can't

BPC 10 is supported by the Information Design Tool , using the XMLA connector

in UDT, it's OLE DB, and designed for BPC 7

Hi Henry, thank you very much for the clarification.

We will try to use IDT to connect it up. Are you aware of any tutorials or advice when doing so? Will it be quite straight forward?

Thanks again,

Nick

Hi,

the documentation is lacking in this area.

I had a qu9ick look in the data access guide http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir4/en/xi4_data_acs_en.pdf

and IDT user guide: http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir4/en/xi4_data_acs_en.pdf

and there are no specific references to BPC integration.

That said, if you are using the BW NW version of BPC - i'm sure this would be exposed via a BEx query over a cube, or via a relational connection using BW SQL driver to a cube.

however, if you are using the MSAS (MS SQL SRV) version of BPC, that would be using the XMLA connectory to an IIS data pump on the db server.

you might want to ask this question on their respective forums:

and

best of luck.

H
