SAP Gui Scripting not running

Hi Expert,

the problem is that we use a 3rd party solution to implement single sign-on (Imprivata Onesign software) across all our desktop applications.This software had been working with SAP until about 2 months ago. We cannot say what changed at this point to stop it working.

I know when implementing this software we were asked to set the parameter sapgui/user_scripting set to True. We did this. It is still set. What should happen is that when a user launches the SAP Gui and clicks on say SAP system, they are automatically logged into SAP system without having to enter a username password.

We noticed that when this was working the u201Cbarberu201D icon in the bottom right corner like a candy stripe was u201Cactiveu201D, ie its colours were bright. Now when you hover over this icon you get u201CSap Gui Scripting: script is not runningu201D. I think it is this that is preventing the single sign on working. . What script is this and how do we get it to run? And all users are affected. This includes PCu2019s on windows 7 and windows xp.

please help how to solve the problem.

Hi,

Has this issue been resolved?

There are two components here, GuiXT, and SAP GUI Scripting.

From what I can determine, you are referring to a SAP GUI Scripting issue as opposed to GuiXT.

Other than the parameter that you have set to enable GUI Scripting, there are a few more that will need to be set.

Let me know if you need more help.

Hey Freddie,

I'm having the same issue as al im in our environment. We use imprivata single sign on solution which using gui scripting to detect the sap screen for auto login. After upgrading to the gui version 720 from 710 our non admin domain accounts will not the sap screen through imprivata because the gui scripting bar never runs/activates. If you log onto the computer as an admin the gui scripting runs and imprivata detects sap and logs in correctly. Is there a certain windows directory or folder that we need to add domain users to in order to allow the gui scripting to run. I have verified that scripting is enabled under sap options for the non admin user.

I downloaded the latest gui 720 patch from 2.4 to 3.7 and it's still not working.

Yes I have contacted imprivata and I have been escalated to tier 2 but there engineers say they can't figure out why it won't work for non admin accounts. They do not have a support key or way of contacting SAP directly to setup a remote session so they can find out what exactly SAP requires. They requested myself to put in a ticket with SAP but its been weeks with no response since this isnt an actual issue with SAP itself not working.

Hi

SAPGUI scripting can be activated by setting the profile parameter sapgui/user_scripting to TRUE. You can activate it dynamically via RZ11 if your system features a 6.20 kernel or above. For systems with 4.6D kernel, you need patch 972.

Here are the steps:

1. Run transaction RZ11.

2. Enter sapgui/user_scripting and click Display.

3. Click Change value.

4. Enter TRUE (uppercase) in New value and click Save.

To activate this parameter permanently you need to add it to the instance profile via RZ10 and re-start the SAP instance.

Hey Naor,

I verified we have user_scripting set to TRUE on our application server as we have never had an issue using xp this has just started to happen once we went to windows 7.

Can you "Activate GuiXT" available in the options section of SAPGUI. Check the results after it is activated.
