Database file cannot be created

Hi. We're trying to install SAP Solution Manager on an MS SQL Server under Win2008 R2.

But when trying to create the database files it gives me the following error: "The file C:\BACK\DB1DATA1\DB1DATA1.ndf already exists."

This cannot be true. The system is a fresh install, and there have been no prior installation attempts. Even changing the folder called "BACK" does not help, the message reflects the change.

Does anyone have an idea what could be the error here?

Hi,

Can you check whether there is any old registry entry with the same name ?

Else go with fresh OS install and then repeat SAP installation again.

Hello,

If there is no prior installation attempt and OS is fresh, then this message is really strange.

However, just to be sure, did you include the following Note in your sap installation planning ?

1480785 Creating a Modified Windows Kernel DVD

Thanks

No, i haven't yet. I'll try it out.

But regarding that note... It talks at one point about having to download the file "SAPEXE_*.SAR (current version)" from the marketplace. There is no file with that name in the '#Database independent' folder. Do you know anything about that?

Okay, my mistake. I was using the wrong Kernel-DVD.
