Hi,
IF there is a firewall between my SAP Application Server and my SQL Server Database Server, what ports will I need to open up in order to install and run a distributed SAP system successfully?
Is opening up SQL Server port 1433 enough?
Or do i need to open up additional SAP ports as well like 3300, 3600, 3200, etc?
What about SMB port for directory sharing? Do I need directory access between the Apps and the DB server?
Thanks for any advise.
regards,
Nick
Hi,
The below link gives a good overview of ports usage in the SAP system:
In my opinion, only the RDBMS port needs to be opened for communication between app server and datbase server.
Ofcourse other port on app server are to be opened for communication with clients and other servers as required.
Directory sharing: yes as preparation for distributed system installation a shared directory is to be setup for common executables. This information is available in the guide is a part of SAPInst for distributed installation (i.e. Central host preparation).
