Hi Guru's,
We are trying to install NW 7.3 on windows .
-->I came to know that NW 7.3 is 64bit only, running on SAP JVM 6 (JAVA) and Unicode version
--> Note 1495160 - SAP JVM as replacement for Partner JDKs 1.4.2
So , Is that mean before installation I don't require JDK 1.4. X . I and no need to use Switch tool to upgrade to SAP JVM 4 etc
then How could SAP JVM 4/6 comes to the picture ?
How to get SAP JVM4/6 . Is it going to be there in the installation suite itself ?
Please update me ASAP.
JDK 1.4.2 are for JAVA based systems on NW 7.0 . Since partner JDKs 1.4.2 from Sun, IBM etc are no longer going to be support hence SAP has come up with SAP JVM 4.1.
For NW 7.3 , you require SAP JVM 6.
Also the SAP install would install the JVM 6 and maintain the version and the JVM directory in the instance profile.

Hi Ratnaji ,
Thanks for sharing ..
"SAP JVM6 is required for NW 7.3 ."
How can I get this SAP JVM6 ? .
If it is of partner jdk's like 1.4... I would have downloaded from service marketplace and during sapinst installation I would have given that over there.
So , In case of SAP JVM6 how to proceed ?
Regards
Sandy
Hi,
For Nw7.3 no need to install seperate JVM,sapinst only install the JVM
after installation JVM floder will be created in the following location
\usr\sap\<SID>\SYS\exe\JVM

Adding to Ratnajit, I guess SAP JVM is being released in Installation kit itself. Confirm it from the installation guide once.
However, if you need to download it explicitly, then check these SAP Notes and related notes,
Note 1442124 - How to download a SAP JVM patch from the SMP
Note 1367498 - SAP JVM installation prerequisites
Thanks

Hi Sandy,
SAP JVM is developed by SAP and JDK is developed by other vendors like Sun. SAP recommends SAP JVM for NW7.3 installations instead of JDKs.
So you can directly install SAP JVM instead upgrading from JDK, if it's fresh installation.
You can download the relevant SAP JVM from Installation suite.
Hope your query is answered.
Thanks,
Siva Kumar
