Hi Jawad/Arjun,

I know this thread has been opened/updated quite a while ago but looks like this something similar to what i am in need of right now i.e mass creation of printers in SAP using either excel sheet or from template or any other way. I believe you worked on it and might have some help/process document detailing steps on how to use LSMW to achieve this task. Appreciate if you can please share this information.

Thanks for the help!

Hi,

I don't see any option to mass upload printer definition in SAP.

Thanks

Sunny

Thanks for replying sunjay, but there must be something. Normally you can make a export of printers which is created in a txt file. if i create like that for one printer and manually alter the file and import. Do you think that would help ?

Hi,

If you have those printers already in SAP then you can

1). You can do transport all

2). You can export and Import....

To EXPORT all output devices:

1. Run transaction SPAD.

2. Select Utilities -> for output devices -> Export devices.

3. Enter a filename.

4. Choose Frontend computer under File sytem info.

4. Choose Export under Operation.

5. Check Execute export under Options.

6. Enter * in Output Device under Objects for export.

7. Click Execute.

To IMPORT all output devices:

1. Repeat the steps above but choose Import and Execute import under Operation and Options respectively.

The text file generated by the export looks like this:

VERSION = "0.1" TIME = "20050727110101" SYSTEM = "DEV" RELEASE = "620" * DEVICE = { NAME = "ariel" PADEST = "ARIE" PATYPE = "HPLJ4" PAMODEL

If the printers are not existing in SAP, then

1). You can use LSMW for mass creation of printers. LSMW steps are

Hi Arjun,

Thanks for the reply, I have one more question regarding LSMW, which table do I have to change for that. How would I know SPAD does entries in which table. Second if i do the entries from LSMW will the printers be visible in SPAD.

You need to add these tables for printer creation PSP03D PSP03 PSP03.

Yes, You can use the LSMW for mass printer creation. I am not sure howto post the template here as it is quite large.

Thanks,

Arjun
