the dev_tp file in our dev system is growing fast - how can I handle that in a as400 system?

and how can I find the cause off this situation to stop the growth ?

Hello,

Please try to refer a similar discussion thread,

Note 520351 - Deleting dev_tp regularly in the working directory

Thanks

Thanks - I have already read that Thread (and the note) but its for another version/OS and I can't see how to find the cause off the fast growing ! do anyone knows how to find the root cause? br Niels

Hi,

Could you provide some last few lines from dev_tp. What exactly is getting recorded into it ?

First perception seems to be issue with tp executable. But the dev_tp log file should provide more details.

Hi,

The entries in the new file seems to be ok.

Can you share the entries from your old files to dig out your problem.

Hi Deepak

Its not easy to get hand in these entries - I have tried with wordpad (file too big 5GB !) same in notepad - tried to zip it but still too big

Then I have have tried with cmd more - but I think it will take days to get to the bottom ! - do You have a tool or idea how to get to the latest entries in that big file

Hi Niels,

try to find out, which process(es) holds this lock:

WRKIFSLCK STMF('/usr/sap/trans/tmp/SLOG1145.ERD.LOC')

You may also check if notes 563111 or more probably 647891 apply to that process.

Thomas

Hi,

usr/sap/trans/tmp/SLOG1145.ERD.LOC is already in use (345064), I'm waiting 4 sec (20111123134408). My name: pid 224316 on DKANS400 (erd00)

This error comes due to aborted tp operation. Solution here is rename the file SLOG1145.ERD.LOC.

Hope this helps.
