NWDI Landscape Configurator - Deploy Settings & Runtime Systems

Hi Experts!

I have got a question about the NWDI.

First of all my System-Components:

- NWDI 7.01 SP7

- NWDS 7.30

- Deploying on: SAP NetWeaver Portal 7.3

I am creating a TRACK in the Landscape Configurator in the CMS.

When I switch to the tab "Runtime Systems", I choosed "Development", "Consolidation" und "Production", because I want to transport my TRACK through all the NW Portal 7.3 Systems.

My question now:

On the tab "Select Tool for Deployment": Do I have to mark "SDM" or "Deploy Controller" ?

I think it is "Deploy Controller", but which fields do I have to fill in ?

(Do I have to put a check at the field "Integrate runtime system into JSPM scenario") and so on...

Thank you very much for helping.

Integrate option is necessary only if you want to make the runtime system to be under NWDI control.

What does it mean? It means that as you know SAP provides products which you can deploy and use directly (like ESS or CRM) but you can also enhance it.

Now if your basis colleagues decide to patch this product, then all your changes will be overwritten by the upgrade.

But if you use the Integrate option, then during the upgrade the involved SCs won't be upgraded (since they are under development by you). Here you need to specify the host, port, and the j2ee admin user and its password.

Best Regards,

Ervin

Hi,

I think it is fine, if you specify only the first 2 fields, i.e.

- Instance Host Name

- Instance Number

After this it can happen that you need to wait for a while until the system gets registered and showing up in the list, so please do not press cancel, just wait until it is getting displayed.

If nothing happens 2-3 minutes long, then let me know the error messages you faced.

Best Regards,

Ervin

Hello Ervin.

Thank you for your reply.

Now I know, what my problem is:

I am in the NWDS.

When I switch to:

Windows -> Preferences -> SAP AS Java -> Add

I can generate a new AS Java, where I can deploy my JSP (EAR-File)....

I have to fill in:

- Instance Host Name

- Instance Number

- Add to Domain

- Use HTTPS

I want to deploy on a SAP NetWeaver Portal 7.3 System.

But it doesn't work:(

After I filled in the above named fields, there are so many errors in the "Error Log".

And I can't deploy on that system?

Do you know what might be wrong?

Thank you for helping.

Hi,

if the target runtime system is 640 or 700 (including EHPs of course) then

go for SDM, specify the password of the SDM user (no need to specify username as there is no such) and specify the port 5xx18

If the target system is higher (or equal) than 710 then

go for deploy controller, specify the j2ee administrator user and its password and provide the port number 5xx04

Regards,

Ervin
