Hello
Any information about a possibility to operate Cognos on top of HANA?
Is it possible to use Cognos as front-end for HANA?
A.
Please have a look at OSS Note 1577128 - Supported clients for SAP HANA 1.0. Only SBO BI 4.0, BO 3.1 WebI, and MS Excel are supported clients for HANA 1.0.

Joe ,
We can use jdbc connectivity to connect to Cognos ( or any other reporting tool which uses jdbc) . However, this is not supported by SAP . copy the Njdbc.jar file ( you can find in hdb client) to the reporting tool destination. but you are on your own if you run into any issues as these are not certified clients . we were able to test this connectivity using spot fire but we havent implemented this to production
Thanks,
Kiran .

Further to Pierre's reply, the latest release of Cognos BI 10.2.1 includes SAP HANA support.
See here for a full list of supported data sources

Hi Rama,
IBM Cognos is investing in obtaining HANA Certification. The certification itself does not encompass simply access, other areas of integration are required such as security providers, etc... which takes some time. It should be understood that connectivity through JDBC leverages straight SQL and IBM Cognos follows SAP's own syntax documentation. As with any other access and challenges, SQL can be isolated and parsed through HANA Studio should issues arise to present cases to SAP.
Hi,
If you caught Hasso Plattner's onstage presentation at SAP Sapphire 2013, you may have seen Cognos linked to SAP HANA on one of the slides. While not yet SAP certified, IBM Cognos has recently released support for HANA JDBC, see the following link:

Hi Kiran,
Can you please share where(folder path) did you paste the ngdbc.jar file in Cognos server?
Normally for BO Explorer this file need to be placed in
BI4_INSTALL_PATH\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI4.0\dataAccess\connectionServer\jdbc\drivers\newdb
and then in
BI4_INSTALL_PATH\Explorer14.0\plugins\com.sap.ngdbc_1.0.0\lib

Balaji S
