Number ######## not defined for material type Finished Goods -NonvValued

I am processing a material for a change request and modifying existing value. If we change value for material desciription and hit check, we are getting no error. If we changing something other than material description, we are getting error below.

This error seems to only happen to materials within an internal number range (ZVAL,ZONL,ZSAL).

Please, keep in mind the number range looks correct in transaction SNRO object MATERIALNR.

Error

Number ####### not defined for material type Finished Goods-Nonvalued

Thanks

Hello,

Please check for the number range maintained in R/3 Side for the mentioned material group.

as the error states, the specifed number if not defined for finished good.

Other possibility is some has manually entered the Number where it should be auto generated.

It would be helpful if you can provide some information whether you are using qualified range for number generation or not.

regards,

Abhishek

We are using NR Object Material Master, which has 3 ranges. If we change a material within external defined range, I am not seeing the error. If we change a material within internal defined range, we are seeing the error. How, would I know whether we are using a qualified number range. Is there any additional configurations within MDG needed?

Hello,

From number To number Current number Ext

000000000040000000 000000000099999999 40647077

000000000000004000 000000000039999999 X

000000000000002000 000000000000003999 X

Please specify which range is for which material group.

For finished good is the material number range internal or external.

For external number you will not get an error, since the changed are expected to be external.

For internal number, the number are auto generated by the system any changes to the materail number will throw an error.

In MDG we do not have qualified number range i was under the asumption it is an MDM system

Hi Cristopher,

This error comes when one creates a new material, and number is fed in manually. And as it is internally generated number it is not allowed to provide number, hence the error.

Now the concern is why is it not allowing to change values of other field.Possibly there is some configuration value which is stopping you from doing this or also look into rights and privileges.

Kindly details what are you trying to achieve here.

Thanks,

Ravi
