Hi Eli,
Java startup failed since it could not create Java virtual memory. As Sunny suggested, please increase the following heap memory parameters for all server nodes and do fresh restart. You should be able to modify them in config tool or instance.properties file.
-Xmx200M
-Xms200M
Please go through note 723909 for better understanding. Good luck!!
Thanks,
Siva Kumar
Hi,
Please refer the note 940893 for J2EE engine startup issues.

Hello Eli,
Thank you for the std file. It, as you can see, shows the exact error that is causing the start up problem:
JVMDUMP001E Dump Event unrecognised: ...systhrow,filter=java/lang/OutOfMemoryError,request=exclusive+prepwalk
The reason is that option
-Xdump:system:events=systhrow,filter=java/lang/OutOfMemoryError,request=exclusive+prepwalk
is not present in your JDK version.
Then, you have 2 options:
1.- Please, update the JDK to SR13 (see note 716927 regarding recommended JDK versions). Note 718901 shows you how to change JDK. This is the option I recommend you, as the one you are using isvery old, from 2006.
2.- If it is too complicated to update the JDK you can run the box without this parameter.
I hope this helps you.
Regards,
Blanca

Hi Eli,
the information showed in #723909 is regarding a dispatcher and server nodes, not to bootstrap. To bootstrat use Xmn and Xmx=256m.
To bootstrap issue, use SAP note #997510.

Hi Eli
What is the size of heap memory of server node. Big heaps can also cause such issues.
BTW, the log file you have provided also has a SAP note which i think is really nice
Below are some contents from refrence of that note
Problems with initializing the VM are often caused by incorrect parameters in the VM. For more detailed information, refer to the dev_<node> trace file (for example, dev_server0) or std_<node>.out trace file (for example, std_server0.out).
If std_<node>.out does not exist, check whether the checkmark for the console is set in the config tool. You can also verify this in the instance.properties file. The parameter console is set to 'Yes'. Change this using the config tool.
Examples of incorrect parameters:
- The defined heap is too big. There is not enough contiguous virtual address space to define the heap.
As a result, the system issues the following error message:
could not reserve enough space for object heap.
This error often occurs on 32-bit Windows systems (Note 835704).
You can use the address space viewer (Note 736462) and preload DLL (Note 853696) to resolve this issue.
- Unknown parameters, for example, -XX:<name> on IBM JDK result in the following error messages:
Command-line option unrecognised: -XX:+PrintGCTimeStamps
These error messages are in std_bootstrap.out.
If the system issues this type of error message, open the instance.properties file and delete the parameter. The bootstrap process does not read this information from the database, but from this file.
Let me know if i can be of further assistance
Cheers !
Manish

Hello Eli,
Please, do not modify any value, first of all, please, see the error detail in std_bootstrap or jvm_bootstrap, then, knowing the exact cause of the problem we can look for a solution.

Blanca

Value of Heap memory parameters are very less. Please increase Heap memory. Check SAP note 723909.
Please also check default trace file.
Thanks
