Hi guys!

decided to upgrade install server to SAP GUI720 .

I upgrade new install server to patch level 8.

When i have patch level 0 SAP GUI after installing always create shortcut on users desktop.

after updating (patch level 😎 the shortcut no longer creates.

After install hsitory file default creates in C:\

All users don't have permissions on write in partition C:\ .

Because of this SAP history is not saved.

Everybody knows how solve problem with shortcut after install and adjust the path to the *.mdb file ? When the SAP GUI is installing on the workstation, the path to the *.mdb file are written automatically.

Thanks

Hello Andrey

In the applet SAP GUI Configuration, you can refer to the Local Data => History,

and set the Directory for Input History to the desired path.

Hello Andrey,

Not sure why the shortcut is not getting created.

Are there any errors on the installation check, and what OS and permissions have you set?

If you are using Windows 7,or Vista,is UAC (User account control) activated?

Are there any error logs in the sapgui installation logfiles?

These are usually in program files
SAP\SapSetup\LOGs

Look for either 1E or 2E in the nwsapsetup.log files.

Jude

I try install SAP GUI with admin and users rights in both cases shortcut not installed on desktop.

OC Windows XP

In logs 14:18:36 NwSapSetup 1 Return-Code: 0

1E or 2E not see

may be a registry key that is responsible for the shortcut and it is not written correctly?

in install log, its not errors?

Hello Andrey

You can ignore any Dirty remarks in the logfile, it just means that the GUI is not a clean install and was installed prevoiusly.

The note 622135 gives the registry settings required for SAPGUI install.
