PI system connection to Active Directory

Does any one has a step-step procedure to connect the an SAP system to an Active directory server?

Hi,

What AD version do you have?

AD 2003 has the option to export a file (XML if I am not mistaken) which you can then import into SAP/PI.

AD 2008 has WCF webservices.It's difficult, but still possible to consume them through PI.

Please let me know whether more information is needed.

Here is the exact requirement:

We are actually working on a POC so It is not feasible to connect the Java stack (UME data source) to a production AD server(DNS name like xyz.com) and we do have a development/lab envionment setup of AD.

So the only option left is to install an AD on a server and point the UME data source to it.

Now, when we would be installing it then the we need to give a DNS name other than the one mentioned (like abc.com) but our PI system is based on the DNS xyz.com so will we be able to connect the UME data source of our PI system to this active directory(i.e which is point to a different domain) ?
