Dear All

I've come across a system with following settings...

Number - Role - Other settings:

000- SAP Reference - No changes allowed - Changes to repository and cross client customizing allowed - Client copy ( No overwriting)

100 - Customizing - Automatic recording of changes - Changes to repo and cross cli allowed - Client Copy (No Restriction)

110 - Unit Testing - No changes allowed - No Changes to Repo and cross client cus objects - Client Copy (No overwriting / no external availability)

120 - ABAP Development - Auto reco of changes - Changes to repo and cross cli allowed - Client Copy (No overwriting)

130 - Sandbox - Changes w/o automatic recording - No changes to repo / cross client obj - Client Copy (No Overwriting/ no ext availability)

140 - GL Upload - auto reco of changes - No changes to repo/cross client obj - Client Copy (No overwriting / no ext avai)

1. Here, I see that transports will be created from two clients (100 and 140), For 130, there will be no transports and changes will be automatically saved.. .Should transports be created only from one client. Is it good to have a client with direct changes (w/o automatic recording)

2. What is the best way to configure GL upload ?

Please help.

For your setup you should have transports created from 100, 130 clients. For rest client 110 and 140 you can use scc1 to transport the changes.

2. What is the best way to configure GL upload ?

Keep the following setting

No changes allowed - No Changes to Repo and cross client cus objects - Client Copy (No overwriting / no external availability)

Hope this answers your query

Is it ok to allow users create transports from two different clients / should they come from one client only. Further, is it good to allow automatic recording of changes in 'any' client ?

Hi,

Is it ok to allow users create transports from two different clients / should they come from one client only.

It is good to differentiate workbench client and customizing client. Hence requests can originate from 2 different clients.

Further, is it good to allow automatic recording of changes in 'any' client ?

Automatic recording of changes is mandatory where you wish that all changes should be recorded into a transport request. So that it can be transported to next system in the TMS route.

Hope this answers your query.
