PO amendment/change Fund error

Dear Experts

When we are trying to change already created PO details (Created before FM implementation) we got below error message.

" Fund ABC in FM area XYZ is not valid for 04.09.2008

Message no. FI171

As per Fund properties ABC fund validity from date 01.04.2011 to 31.12.9999.

for allowing blank values we have selected IMG setting "Allow BLANK as Value for Account Assignment Elements" by select Fund and Budget Period upTo 2009.

When we select "Allow BLANK as Value for Account Assignment Elements" why the system is asking/throwing Fund validity error.

Hi,

Allowing 'blank' value means the possibility to post the entry without Fund assignment. But, in your message, the fund object is somehow derived, could be through derivation strategy.

Correct, Whenever we select Allowing 'blank' value up to that particualr year (To date 2009) system will allow postings without Fund assignment.

But in my case when we try to change old/ already posted doucments i.e, PR/PO etc., system is checking Fund validity and throwing error.

Actually these are old documents not required for updating/deriving 'Fund' assignment. since we have made relevant config setting in allowing blank value. FM activation fiscal year is from 2010 .

Kindly suggest how to resolve these issues.

Hi,

Are these documents assigned to the fund in question (ABC)? If not, that it happens to be derived somehow through derivation strategy (FMDERIVE). You have to neutralize this rule for these postings.

My question is if we maintian "allow blank value" config setting upTo that particular year, system need to allow blank values for old documents.

And also it is checking 'Fund' validity for Capex PO's (created before FM implementation) also .

Even if we maintained derivation rules in FMDERIVE also, sytem need to allow blank postings upto that year because we have made config setting "allow blank values".

Why it is checking the availability and validity of FM objects for the old documents.

And also kindly provide the detailed information on "neutralize derivation rule".

Allow 'blank' values means possibility of posting a document without relevant assignment (if no other restriction in terms of budget control are not applied). This has nothing to do with validity check of an object; if the system throws a message of validity of fund ABC, it means that this fund somehow is included in the document (either by reference document or via derivation strategy). The system will check FM object validity for the documents with no connection to 'allow blank' functionality.
