NWDI Configuration

HI Friend,

I need to modify the ess/mss application for that i need nwdi configuration,so our basis guy doesn't have much idea about nwdi,so he installed nwdi in seperate box(not in portal),so my questions are

1)should portal and nwdi should be in same box or not?

2)where should .sca files be deployed?(in portal box or nwdi box)?

3)what are steps or tasks we need to follow ?

Hi babanmohi,

NWDI should not be clubbed with Portal because one NWDI can be shared by many portal servers such as different portals for different geographies of the same company can share only one NWDI as recommended by SAP.

As far as .SCA files deployment is considered, you can deploy these files in SDM. This tool can be launched by RemoteGui.bat file.

The basic and underlying concept of interaction between NWDI and Portal is that they communicate with each by sharing SLD of NWDI. So, all you need to do is to create an user name for maintaining SLD connection of portal and this user name should have j2EE_admin authorizations.

SLD maintains connections between portal and NWDI with a user id which could be j2ee_admin or any user with required authorizations. also, portal hostnames has to be maintained in visual admin under data supplier.
