Hi Basis Expert,
I have an question regarding Oracle Instant Client in 11g (11.2.0.2).
Can i update the oracle instant client in 11g(11.2.0.2) when SAP System, listener and DB is up and running?
Till now we have updated new oracle instant client by stopping the SAP system, listener and DB.
I am thinking in point of production system so that we can reduce the downtime.
Please suggest me.
Regards,
Anil Shenoy.
Hi,
You have to stop SAP system while installing client. Because you need to uninstall it first and then you will install new client. So, this require downtime.
Thanks

You can install instant client in 11g in a new folder even when the system is up and running. But to re-link the updated version you will need a small downtme of 5 - 10 mins.

Hello,
Have you already gone through the notes -
Note 1431794 - Oracle 11.2.0: Instant Client
Note 819829 - Oracle Instant Client Installation and Configuration on Unix
I think it doesn't matter whether it is 10g or 11g, we have to stop SAP etc.
Thanks
