Tracking of issues of gauges to shop floor

Hi All,

We issue measuring instruments to technicians on the shop floor to perform the quality inspection. When the calibration of equipments is due, we receive the instruments from respective persons and calibrate them.

So please suggest , how to map, issue of instruments after calibration and receipt of guages for calibration from respective persons.

Thanks & regards,

rajesh

Hi Rajesh,

Try this if works for you.

1. Create a non valuated material code for each equipment using UNBW material type with same description as that of equipment.

2. Have department wise storage locations (Quality, Production, tool room, Stores etc)

3. Upload the stock against all these material codes. This would be initial stock entry could be with 561.

4. As per calibration plan when a calibration order is created, respective departmental user has to transfer this material from QA to stores. (This would mean quality user has handed over the equipment to stores department for sending it to calibration)

5. Stores will perform 541 and 542 for sending and receiving respectively.

6. After the receipt of calibrated equipment, stores department should transfer back this material to QA location by 311 movement through MB1B.

7. In this way you can track where the equipment is lying by executing MMBE or MB52.

Hi Anand,

Thanks for your reply !

The procedure suggested by you works very well if we want to send the equipment outside the plant for calibration purposes. However, our requirement is to track the issue of equipments to inspectors/operators on the shopfloor and collect the equipments back for calibration as soon as it is due. we need a tracking mechanism to trace equipments issued to respective users for inspection on shop floor.

Please suggest your valuable suggestions

What Anand Rao has suggested is very simple & easy to implement process but you can explore standard sap function using inspection type 14 calibration in PM module.
