Migration from SAPDB to MaxDB

Hi,

I need to migrate from SAP DB 7.3.00.35 (non-unicode) to MaxDB 7.7 (unicode). Can I do this directly or is some mid version upgrade needed first?

1. If you are SAP customer => please review SAP Note No. 744774

Are you SAP customer?

2. In general, I recommend first to update the SAP DB 7.3.00.35 to the latest 7.3 build first, then run

catalog migration, then upgrade MAXDB.

Hi Natalia,

thanks for the information, this was what I expected because of the unicode. We did this upgrade last year in one server from version 7.3.00.25 to 7.6 and at that time also upgrade to mid version was needed.

By the way we are long time customers for SAP.

Hi,

In order to upgrade from SAP DB 7.3.00.35 (non-unicode) to MaxDB 7.7 (unicode) you need to do the following

1) Upgrade your existing database fo MaxDB 7.7

2) Using DBMGui, change the database parameter Unicode = YES.
