Number range behaviour in Business Partners

Former Member

Hi folks,

We have a classic scenario and the entire org related data flows from SAP HCM module (ECC 6) to SAP SRM.

Every "personnel" (data available in ECC via PA20 / PA30) with proper HR and org data is replicated to SRM via PFAL.

My observation and the resultant question lies here.

If the personnel number in ECC is 90000001 and i execute PFAL below is what i see in SRM

The Business Partner number generated for the above personnel is the SAME ... BUT there is a "6" prefixed to it.

ie.,

ECC 90000001 (8 characters in lenght)

SRM 690000001 (9 characters in lenght - due to the 6 prefixed in SRM)

Please help me in identifying if this prefixing been achieved as a technical enhancement or its a functionality that is implemented as part of customizing either in ECC or in SRM.

Regards,

Maars.

The prefixing is standard SAP functionality. Depends on HR number range.

Sam,

Thanks for prodding me to research on the number range front.

Hi

You may check the business partner number range in SRM. Maybe its different from your ECC

Cross-Application Components->SAP Business Partner->Business Partner

Hi Sam,

Using tcode BUCF i find the below

No. From No. To No. Ext

01 0000000001 399999999

AB 400000000 499999999 X

HR 600000000 799999999 X

MD 9000000000 9999999999 X

OR 500000000 599999999 X

I observe thatt the "HR" number range is the one that is getting consumed. But i still cant figure out how the "6" is getting prefixed.
