Upgrade to Solution Manager 7.1: The requested Data Carrier is not mounted.

Former Member

Hello,

I am upgrading a Solution Manager 7.0 EHP1 SPS24 system to SAP

Solution Manager 7.1.

During Extraction phase , I have the following error message:

Please enter mount points for the DVDs required for the upgrade.

Enter at least the mount point containing "Upgrade master DVD"

The requested Data Carrier is not mounted on any of the mount points

you entered.

From the "Upgrade Guide SAP Solution Manager 7.1", page 22 , the following data carriers are required:

SAP Kernel DVD for SAP NetWeaver and your operating system

DVD containing the upgrade export

DVD containing the languages

I have downloaded them from http://service.sap.com/swdc ->

Installations and Upgrades -> SAP Technology Components" SAP SOLUTION

MANAGER" SAP SOLUTION MANAGER 7.1 -> Upgrade -> HP-UX -> Oracle Database

However, the "SAP Kernel DVD for SAP NetWeaver and your operating

system" (51040868_4 Solman 7.1 UC-Kernel 7.20 HP-UX on IA64 64bit ) is

not seem to be accepted.

From Note 1462137 :

Phase READDATA_USRENV

Description: The PREPARE stops with the following message:

Enter at least the mount point containing "Upgrade master DVD"

Solution: Download the following UM_USER_ENV files for your platfrom

from

SMP and provide them in the directory created for the content of the

Kernel

DVD:

- SOLMAN 7.1 UM_USER_ENV for DBINDEP

- SOLMAN 7.1 UM_USER_ENV for

So I have also downloaded :

51040868_16 Solman 7.1 UM_USER_ENV for DBINDEP

51040868_19 Solman 7.1 UM_USER_ENV for ORA

I have unzip-ped 51040868_4, 51040868_16 , and 51040868_19 in the same directory and

provided the path to SOLMANUP/STARTUP SAP System Upgrade tool, but

without success..

Any clue?

Thank you and best regards,

Cédric Decreton

Hi Sulabh,

Thank you for your reply.

But I can't find a solution in this thread.

Plz enter one DVD at a time, start with the DBINDEP as one input, then press continue and go to the next screen and enter the DB-Dependent DVD and then press continue. Plz process one DVD at a time.

It should work.

I don't have a DVD for DBINDEP and for DB.

Both are on the same DVD.

I tried to enter only that DVD in this way

/SAPPATCHES/SM71/51040870

and

/SAPPATCHES/SM71/51040870/DATA_UNITS

Both methods doesn't work. 51040870 is the Kernel DVD, there is directory "DATA_UNITS" and in this directory are the following directories:

K_720_N_OS400_PPC64
K_720_U_OS400_PPC64
SL_CONTROLLER_700
SL_CONTROLLER_720
UM_USER_ENV_DB4
LABELIDX.ASC
UM_USER_ENV_DBINDEP

I also don't know where to put the directories "UM_USER_ENV_DBINDEP" and "UM_USER_ENV_DB4"..

Best regards

Hi,

Can you tell me your Operating and Database system ? I suggested you to follow upgrade documentation and SapNotes,Central note ... before you are upgrading your System.

Hi Sulabh,

My OS is OS400/DB2.

Of course I followed the upgrade guide and I have read all the notes which are mentioned in the upgrade guide.

A similar Problem is described in note 1462137:

Phase READDATA_USRENV
Description: The PREPARE stops with the following message:
Enter at least the mount point containing "Upgrade master DVD"
Solution: Download the following UM_USER_ENV files for your platfrom from SMP and provide them in the directory created for the content of the Kernel DVD:
  - SOLMAN 7.1 UM_USER_ENV for DBINDEP
  - SOLMAN 7.1 UM_USER_ENV for <your_database>

But I'm not in phase "READDATE_USRENV" (I'm in PREP_INPUT/EXTRACTKRN_PRE) and the error message on my upgrade is not for "UPGRADE Master DVD".

My error message:

Please enter mount points for the DVDs required for the upgrade.
Enter at least the mount point containing "Kernel DVD for OS OS400_PPC64 and Unicode"

The requested Data Carrier is not mounted on any of the mount points you entered.

class com.sap.mid.mxp.UnspecificDataCarrierRequest:com.sap.sdt.bootstrap.BootStrap@73d6776d incompatible with class java.io.File:null

Nevertheless I followed this note and unpacked the two files to the kernel DVD.

Unfortunately the same error....

Thanks for your help....

thank you

Hello,

we had this problem, too.
SUM or SolManUp have problems with directory path with space and points on unix systems like .../SOLMAN_7.1_SR1_Krnl_AIX__z_OS__SOL

It is solved by using .../SOLMAN_7_1_SR1_Krnl_AIX__z_OS__SOL in path.

I download Kernel DVD for upgrade, but kernel on it has date release 13.05.2010.

Our Solution Manager (MOPZ) select for our upgrade kernel which date 10.06.2011.

When I sellect Kernel DVD old Kernel was used for upgrade.

Must I upgrade kernel to new release (which date 10.06.2011) after upgrade SolMan from kernel DVD(which kernel has date 13.05.2010)?

Hello,

The Upgrade Guide states:

2.

You enter mount directories. You require the data carriers listed in the following tables:

Data Carriers Required by the Upgrade Program

SAP Kernel DVD for SAP NetWeaver and your operating system

DVD containing the upgrade export

DVD containing the languages

Ensure all these are mounted.

Does this help? I hope so.

I have done about 5 installs of 7.1 now, but haven't tried an upgrade yet. But the documentation states these are the required data carriers.

Regards,

Paul

From Note 1462137 :

So I have also downloaded :

51040868_16 Solman 7.1 UM_USER_ENV for DBINDEP
51040868_19 Solman 7.1 UM_USER_ENV for ORA

I have unzip-ped 51040868_4, 51040868_16 , and 51040868_19 in the same directory and
provided the path to SOLMANUP/STARTUP SAP System Upgrade tool, but
without success..

I have same trouble when upgrade on SOLARIS_X86_64 platform.

1.When I provide this files in that directorye(s) (DBINDEP and ORA or in same directory),

2.when I unpack it both

3. when i unpack it and kernel and kerneldb sar in same and diferent directoryes

al that nothelpful.

Please help find solution!
