Hello Basis,
We are running NWCE 7.11 on AIX/DB2 platform. I'm looking to change the Java stack time zone on our CE portal. It's currently set to CET but I would like to change it to PST.
I've checked out OS date and it's correct. It's in PST.
I know of transaction STZAD on the BW server. How do you set the timezone for the Java stack CE server?
There's mentioning of -Duser.timezone = on the forum but I'm still not clear as to where I should add this parameter using the configuration tool?
Would appreciate any guidance... Thanks for your response in advance.
Hi Anthony,
Under Configtool > Cluster-Data > Instance_XXX
Select the Server_XXX by clicking on it.
Now, on the right pane, Under Java Settings > Java Parameters section:
Add a new entry for the user timezone by adding the above parameter.
Repeat the same for all server nodes and the dispatcher under the Instance_XXX
Hope this helps.

Varun

Thank you all for helping me resolve this issue.
For others having the similar issue on their NWCE server, below is what I did to resolve the issue.
1. Under Configtool > Cluster-Data > Instance_XXX you should see 4 tabs:Servers, VM Environ, VM Parameter, Instance Profile
2. Goto the VM Parameters Tab -> Additional Tab and add the "-Duser.timezone".
3. Restart SAP
thanks again all.

Thanks for all your quick response. Varun/David: I've seen similar response from other threads.
I do not see select "cluster-data->instanceXXX->serverXXX/Dispatcher" -> "Java parameters"
When I'm in configtool-> cluster-data -> Instance IDxxxxx ->services... I see many components.
Which components am I to add the "-Duser.timezone=<timezone>" under?
thanks.

You can change the timezone of the Java server using the -Duser.timezone parameter. You can add -Duser.timezone=<timezone> to all dispatcher and server processes in your systems, using the configtool
1) open config tool
2) select yes
3) select "cluster-data->instanceXXX->serverXXX/Dispatcher"
4) in "Java parameters" add new line "-Duser.timezone=<timezone>"
5) click "Apply changes"
6) restart your instance

Hi,
SAP EP doesn't have its own timezone considering it can be accessed from multiple geographical regions and timezones.
It uses the timezone of the host machine where it is installed.
By setting Duser.timezone parameter you can change the user timezone. The following thread might be helpful.
http://forums.sdn.sap.com/thread.jspa?threadID=806527
You should also check if the portal is connecting to an ABAP system and therefore displays a different timezone.

Hi,
In As Java system, Time Zone is picked up from OS Time zone. But in your case it is different. Have you recently changed the time zone of OS? If yes, you need to restart the portal to take effect.
Thanks
Sunny
