When upgrading Oracle to version 11g, do have to place the Oracle Client on all the app servers or just the database server.
I thought that only the database server has the /oracle/client software and the app servers have tnsnames.ora & sqlnet.ora to connect to the database server?
Do the app servers need the /oracle/client on them to connect to the database server?
Hi Bill,
Yes, you should update instant client over on all application servers. Check the note 819829 - Oracle Instant Client Installation and Configuration on Unix

Oracle client is installed on Apps server as well.
Don't you see the mount point /oracle/client dedicated to apps server host itself ?
Thanks
