In simple way , you can do simple commands over there or write a script using list of commands and reference the script file name in command field of the communication channel. You can run the command line feature before and after processing the message as per the business requirement.

Command line is normally used to pass the parameters for the shell script program. The number of parameters vary based on your shell script.
Apart from shell script, you can also issue individual os commands based on your functionality.
You can search in forum for various usages and blogs.
