Hello everybody,

I have to homogeneous system copy using export/import method on window 2003 + SQL 2005.

I had read system copy guide, and successfully done in standalone

system (Quality) using only Database instance installation.

But there is no step in clustering environment.

Please suggest me steps.

Thanks

Ganesh

Hi!

Is need to start SAP installation t from beginning?

install first central instance , then database instance

after that MSCS conversion on node A and node B.

because I tried by begin from database instance installation,

move the previous SAP R-3 resource group resource in another

group then delete the SAP R-3 resource group but it not work

properly.

Please suggest steps.

Hi,

You can simply install a new system on cluster as you do normal cluster installation. Once the installation is finished then you can simply bring your database out of the cluster and then restore the database and perform post-restore activities. Then again put your database in cluster and restart the cluster. That is the simple way how i used to do it.

Thanks

Hi!

then its simple detach/attach procedure.

I had done previously successfully, but I have dough because it not give the

performance as desire. previous server has 4 GB RAM and new one has 32 GB

RAM but not get the desire performance. I have the parameter as recommended by

SAP for Zero memory management (we have use Windows 2003 -64 bit + SQL 2005 on new server,

previous is windows 2003 (32-bit) + SQL 2000).

So I want to try export/import method.

Pleas suggest.

Thanks

Hi,

4GB RAM to run an ERP system is not sufficient at all and even there are lot of performance issue on 32 bit systems.

But i did not understand what is the relationship between system copy and system performance? If you use export import method or db restore method what will be its effect on system performance after system build ?

Still if you want to do it then first export the db and then while doing installation on HA server it will ask for migration export then provide path of export dump.

Thanks

HI,

In export/import data is organized and in detach/attach data is not organized.

I though it will affect on performance

Hi,

In export/import, there will be reorganization of data but I don't see there are much performance improvement.

Thanks
