error in license check - Error getting the hardware key

Former Member

Hello,

I'm trying to run SAP NetWeaver 7.0 - Java and ABAP Trial Version on Linux - VMware Edition

but I still have a issue to log on, message : "error in license check"

I try everything I found in forums, I have tested the license, see the trace below.

I checked too files dev_w*

It seems there is a problem with server message

I checked in "dev_ms" file, but nothing has been wrote inside.

Please could you help ? maybe someone met the same issue and solved it.

Thanks

1. Check your system is up and running. In case of HA check ASCS and SCS is running. You are running dual stack check SCS is also runnig.

2. Check the hardware key using SAPLICENSE command at OS level and try to install the new license.

Also provide the dev_ms and dev_disp log files.

Hi everybody, as I was fighting with same issue but articles were useless in my case, I would like to add one more possibility.
In this possibility you have more application servers, probably you cloned one or more of them, but lets assume you have 2 servers and on both after start of SAP you see dialog workprocesses for same application server - let say AS2 but in dw_...is as-1
This happened when we had more than 10 AS, but in general - workprocesses does not come as expected from profile parameter _PF even this profile parameter is correct. In my case there was hidden wild character. So copy text, put in textfile, copy back. Also dont forget to stop process sapstartsrv on impacted server.
-> start->done

Hi Edward,

Fresh SAP installation will be valid only for 30 days from the day you have completed this installation.

Then to continue using it, you will have to procure a valid SAP license.

Please check with the Super Admins of the customer number allocated to your organization, they will be able to help you in registering your system in service market place and provide you with a valid SAP license key.

Thanks

Hello,

I had the same problem. After reading many post, i followed some one that says check the file host.

You have to check the ips in the file.

After correcting this, i installed the license and worked good.

Alejandro.

Hello,

The problem has been solved. I installed one more time the VmWare and it works.

I don't know why. I didn't change anything.

Otherwise I installed VmWare on another computer. It works at the begining. One month later I have the same message error in license check... Otherwise the license is still valid...

Thank you all for your answers.

Hi,

As its a preview installation - the license is valid after installation only for a month. You can order new license from the Service marketplace. If the issue is resolved, please mark the thread as answered.

Hi Edward,

Can you please check whether host file entries and services file entries are properly maintained.

Hi,

Try following things.

1. Double check your System Number in saplicense file

2. Check system data entry for your sap system

3. Install new license using SLICENSE

4. Check /etc/services and /etc/hosts files

5. /$SYNC to reset the buffer

6. Bounce the system

You will be good to login without sap-license error.

Cheers, Dharmesh

Hi,

As you are running a Trial version, I do not think HA/ASCS would be relevant for you.

As you found in the dev_ms trace, the port 3601 for message server is not accessible:

NiIGetServName: port 0E.11/3601 = servicename 'sapmsN4S'

***LOG Q0I=> NiPConnect2: connect (111: Connection refused) http://nixxi.cpp 2769

      • ERROR => NiPConnect2: SiPeekPendConn failed for hdl 0 / sock 4

Check via command netstat if the port 3601 is free for use. The hardware key is obtained from message server and since this port is not available, neither is the message server/the hardware key. Perhaps a VM restart could also help.

Srikishan
