SRM 5.0 incompatibility with JAVA (1.6x).

Hello Everyone,

We are using SRM 5.0 and everyone is getting upgraded to JAVA(1.6x) which is usually not working with SRM's file upload/approver overview functions.

Is this JAVA's new version incompatibility problem ?

Can anyone provide any solution for this or any OSS note for new JAVA version(1.6x)?

Hi Khushbu,

Kindly review the following note:

889701: Which describes the compatibilty of SRM 5.0.

As of SRM 5.0 you will require to use JDK version 1.5.

As there were some problems for uploading attachments with 2-byte

character files we had to adapt the java applet and we have to use

some java statements which are supported only by JAVA 1.5. Therefore the

current version of the applet is not compatible to SUN VM 1.4.xx

anymore.

Since we are using Java statements that are supported by JAVA 1.5

only there is no solution so as to use SUN VM 1.4.xx.This is as per SAP

standards.

Updating your IE to use JVM 1.5 is very simple.

Therefore, change your browser settings so that SUN Virtual Machine is

used when initializing the Java applet. Please retest, once you

download JDK 1.5 as per note 889701 requirements.

Regarding to the automatic JDK version selection I can not give you a

positive feedback. Unfortunately there is no option from SRM side for

defaulting the JDK version, the PC's default will used.

Please check therefore your application (which requires 1.4), whether

this could be updated for 1.5.
