Salvaging Package Information

Former Member

My installation server has become corrupt and I can no longer launch NWSapSetupAdmin.exe and get into the Server Administration Tool. I am thinking of just setting up the installation server again. However, I don't have details of the packages I had setup to recreate them (i.e. various variables such as working directory etc.). Where are the settings for these packages saved? Is there a text or .xml file I can open to see them? Alternatively can I piece this information together from an existing SAP GUI installation done from the server, for example, going into 'About SAP Logon' and 'System Information'. I know the existing package was 'Diet SAP'. However, when I've installed a new installation server on a test box and created a package it appears to create a package which isn't the 'Diet' version.

The corrupt installation server is running SAP GUI 7.10 (Compilation 4).

Hello Nick,

The package is stored as an XML file called SapPackageSetup.xml saved in your setup folder.

FYI, 7.10 is no longer supported as of April 2011,so you should consider upgrading to 7.20 gui.

Best Regards,

Jude
