Planning the Upgrade of DP/SNP Macro books.

Hi Experts,

we are doing upgrade 7.0.Below is the notes of SAP.First of all, as a functional , where to start and execute the processBuit i feel , it is valid only for SAM SCM 4.1.Could you please help us.

As of SAP SCM 5.0, Demand Planning / Supply Network Planning (DP / SNP) contain new functions that make it necessary to introduce developments in the macro definition logic that are incompatible with existing macro definitions. This applies, for example, to distinguishing 0 and initial values in Interactive Planning.

To allow a smooth upgrade without the need for interaction during the upgrade process, we have introduced a compatibility mode for existing macro books. SAPup automatically enables compatibility mode during the upgrade process for each macro book, thus allowing you to execute macros after the upgrade that you defined in previous releases. No manual interaction is necessary during the upgrade process.

There are several new developments in the target release which are, however, not (or only partly) available if the compatibility mode is enabled for the corresponding macro book, for example:

RECOMMENDATION

We strongly recommend that you deactivate compatibility mode in the target release in order to benefit from the new functions.

In most cases, deactivation of compatibility mode after the upgrade is possible without further manual adjustments to the macros, and you can immediately benefit from all new functions introduced with the target release. Whether compatibility mode can be safely deactivated after the upgrade or manual adjustments to macros may be needed, depends on the semantics of the existing macros. Therefore, you cannot use an automated tool to convert macro books to deactivate the compatibility mode.

To help you to analyze your macro books, you can use the Upgrade Assistant report /SAPAPO/ADV_UPGRADE_50. This report offers you the following assistance:¶ðÏ Ëì

It provides you with all necessary information to plan the upgrade of already existing macro books.¶ðÏ Ëì

It identifies macro books where compatibility mode can be safely deactivated after the upgrade without further manual adjustments to macros.¶ðÏ Ëì

It gives you essential hints on how to adjust macros manually to be able to deactivate compatibility mode.

You must run the Upgrade Assistant report before the upgrade so that you can determine how many macro books you will have to adjust after the upgrade if you have deactivated compatibility mode. After the upgrade, you can run the Upgrade Assistant report to determine the current status of your macro books.

The Upgrade Assistant assigns one of the following three states to the macro books:¶ðÏ Ëì

Green light

This state can only occur after the upgrade.

A green light for a macro book is shown if you have deactivated compatibility mode and, if necessary, adjusted the macro.¶ðÏ Ëì

Yellow light

This state occurs before and after the upgrade.¶ðÏ Ëu2026

A yellow light before the upgrade indicates that you can perform the upgrade without any manual preparations. SAPup will automatically enable the compatibility mode during the upgrade.¶ðÏ Ëu2026

A yellow light after the upgrade indicates that compatibility mode is still on for the macro book.

All further information and warning messages for the macro book provide information on whether manual activities may be necessary or if no further manual activities are necessary to deactivate compatibility mode after the upgrade.

Â?×JÙS

Red light

This state can occur before and after the upgrade.

A red light is only displayed if you are using macro-functionality that is not officially released and supported. This means that you have somehow managed to bypass the macro syntax checks.

In this case, you must immediately adjust your macros, as using features that are not supported, can lead to instability or more serious errors on the source and the target release. You may not be able to generate macro books that display red lights on the source release in the target release.

For more information, see the relevant error message and SAP Notes 865333 and 865334.

Procedure

1.

Run the Upgrade Assistant report /SAPAPO/ADV_UPGRADE_50.

2.

Analyze the current status of your macro books and decide which macro books need adjusting after the upgrade.Â?×JÙS

You must adjust macro books with a red light after the upgrade at the latest. You should schedule some time for the adjustment.Â?×JÙS

You should analyze macro books with a yellow light to find out if you can safely deactivate compatibility mode or if you have to perform additional manual adjustments before deactivating.Â?×JÙS

You can safely deactivate compatibility mode after the upgrade in the following cases:Â?×JÙ<

you have no macros in your macro bookÂ?×JÙ<

your data view has no fixable key figureÂ?×JÙ<

your macros do not fix or unfix any fixable key figures

The upgrade assistant report provides information on how to identify these situations.Â?×JÙS

If you fix or unfix a fixable key figure with a macro or user exit macro, manual adjustments of these macros are necessary after the upgrade before deactivating compatibility mode.Â?×JÙS

If you are using obsolete interface parameters in a macro user function, you have to consider removing these obsolete interface parameters to fully benefit from the macro performance improvements. The adjustments can already be made before the upgrade.

3.

If possible, remove red lights on macro books before the upgrade.

NOTE

Perform the manual adjustments determined in step (2) and deactivate the compatibility mode of the macro books after the upgrade .
