Persistence DB2e WM5.0

Hello.

I have a question regarding DB2e. We want to install MI on CF Card. As far as I know its mandatory to use DB2e as persistence. Where can I get a trial version to test it?

Also I heard that when using Windows Mobile 5.0 the data will not get lost after a hard reset even if ´MI is not installed on CF card. Is that true?

Thanks for any hints.

Best regards,

Sascha

Hi Sascha,

The download can also be found in SDN

<a href="https://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/developerareas/mi?rid=/library/uuid/599d5c1d-0a01-0010-8095-df389cd8eb44">db2e download</a>

The data does not get lost only in the case when the battery gets drained or soft reset but not on hard reset. When the hard reset is performed all the data is lost.

Hi again.

Just one more question. How do I install it? In the download from SDN I have a ZIP called db2eV822.zip. I found SAP Note which claims to install it as add on using WEB CONSOLE. I am a bit confused cause the ZIP also contains DLLs for WIN32.

Can I install it on WM 5.0?

Any help?

Thanks.

Hi Sascha,

Please follow the instructions in the note. For deploying

addons MI uses something called the client installer. The

client installer will unzip the contents and copy the jar to the lib folder of MI and the dlls to the windows folders.

Hi Karthik.

Yeah, I already did. Works without problems also on WM05.

Thanks again.

Hi Sascha,

You can download DB2e 8.2.1 from Service Market Place by following this link:

http://www.service.sap.com/~form/handler?_APP=00200682500000001943&_EVENT=DISPHIER&HEADER=N&FUNCTION...

I know that the data will not be erased if the battery on Win 5.0 device is drained, given the new memory architecture. Can someone confirm this is also the case with a hard reset?

Thanks,

Ted
