Copy or Move Hierarchy between repositories

Last year we upgraded from 5.5 to 7.1. In the process our Product group hierarchy was deleted and a new structure was put in place. Here we are a year later and discover that the original hierarchy in 5.5 was used in Publisher by the catalog pages and now our pages 7.1 are broken.

How do we pull the product group hierarchy from 5.5, load it to 7.1 and link all the products into the structure? (the alternate is to spend 6 months manually correcting the problem)

Thanks!

Follow up questions:

Can we import the category taxonomy from 5.5 into 7.1 as an addition to the existing 7.1 taxonomy so they both exist?

Also, can we bring forward the 5.5 category taxonomy with the existing parent/child MDM IDs (re: the below)?

Never tried but I guess you can do that in the same fashion as suggested above. In addition to Level number you can also add taxonomy attributes.

Thanks,

Hi,

First syndicate out your hierarchy into a flat file with different levels as different columns.

Then use this file to build up a excel having Columns for Child, Parent, Node Name, Level Number

Use the first 3 columns to build a hierarchy as described in MDM Import manager guide -

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_mdm550/helpdata/en/2b/595cb4d29b408e8187ec1a100e340d/frameset.htm

Use the Level Number to add validations or assignments at particular level in the hierarchy.

Generate another excel file with 2 columns for Product number & Lowest level of hierarchy. Then import this into your new repository with proper value mapping.

Thanks,

Shambhu.
